Benefits and Improvements of New Shipping Feature
We’ve modernized and redesigned our shipping feature for an efficient new look and feel, complete with some entertaining as well as intelligent new features. And we get it, shipping isn’t exactly your favorite part of running a store, nor is it very fun – until now! As far as we’re concerned, the dreaded shipping process is a thing of the past. Our new shipping feature has arrived, and the innovative new aspects regarding improvements to BrightSites as well as shipping calculations are definitely worth getting excited about. Your job doesn’t have to be all work and no play, and that’s why we think you’ll love our Packing Visualization feature. Visualize Packing
Not only is the new Shipping Feature efficient, it’s also just plain fun! Loving what you do takes on a new meaning with this almost game-like feature. Being able to see items in the hypothetical box is a groundbreaking aspect of our Packing Visualization. Users can also rotate items within the box in order to get an idea of how they will be packaged. In addition to these already incredible features, you can hover over each item within the box to see the dimensions input as well. What makes this possible is our smart new algorithm combined with an option of over sixty predetermined or custom box sizes that you can choose from! In order to use this feature, Legacy Box must be disabled under the General Options section in the Admin area of your store.
Box Sizes
With over sixty preset box sizes, we are confident that we have your first choice on hand! All sixty of these box sizes are the most commonly used, and there are various options available for any of your packaging needs. However, if your preferred box size is not on the list, you can create a custom box size that will work perfectly for any and every item you need to ship.
Box Packing Algorithm
While the Legacy Box packing algorithm previously packed items based on volume alone, the new shipping feature is a bit different. It is based on both dimensions and volume for more accurate calculations to alleviate any pain points for you and your team. The new feature takes dimensions of each box and calculates their volume individually in order to pack items accordingly. For example, when you’re moving to a new residence, you typically pack your largest items first in the box, leaving the smaller items on top. The new Shipping feature within our system recognizes this and automatically packs larger items first for you. Items are packed side by side, vertically up the side of the box. Instead of various sized boxes, the system distributes them evenly by weight and strives to have the same weight per each package of its type instead of adding variously sized items in each box. This is based on our new algorithm which creates a more efficient packing system. Our team is always trying to make this process as convenient as possible for you and your clients, and that’s why we have enabled the Box Sizes and Custom Box Sizes to work with both the Legacy Box and the new Shipping Feature!
How To Enable Shipping Feature
After logging into the store’s admin area, enter the Shipping section and then click Box Sizes. Next, you’ll see a list of the Bright Sites default box sizes that are available and you can activate or deactivate box sizes you need to use for integrated shipping estimates. You can also mass deactivate and activate all box sizes in the list.
